What’s Next? The Next Boys’ Spring/Summer Collection Review

When I want something different, a little whimsical touch, a splash of pink, a hip pair of shoes with a big bang for my buck I am heading in Next direction.  Next, a UK based retailer is one of my indispensable sources for the endless selection of beautifully crafted kids’ clothes and accessories.  Huge selection caters to every taste – preppy and classy, hip and edgy, simple and sporty. Footwear styles are refreshingly different. Prices range from ridiculous to totally reasonable. Unlike its online-phobic Swedish and Spanish cousins, Zara and H&M, this retail monster boosts powerful online presence through their international site NextDirect, which serves the US and 30 other countries worldwide.  Two business days shipping with a flat charge of $5 and pleasant customer service reps with posh British accent make shopping at Next even better.
The only thing I truly dislike about the Next site is its frustrating navigation. You have no way of knowing whether the size you need is available. You have to add the desired item to the shopping cart only to be greeted with the annoying, framed in red “Oops! Sold out!” message. Hopefully, they will respond to the numerous complaints and do something about this super annoying feature shortly.
Let’s talk about Next Boys new Spring/Summer collection.
Whether you shop for a baby, a toddler or a big boy, the choices are not easy. For those with no time or patience to put an outfit together Next offers beautifully styled ensembles with an option to purchase the entire set with one easy click of a mouse.
This super convenient option is especially useful for the gift shoppers, making shopping for a baby shower a breeze.  The 2-pack options are also very thoughtful.

Linen Blend Fishermen’s Hats Two Pack $12
Gingham Shirt Body $14
Linen Blend Trousers Two Pack $21
White Pram Plimsolls $10-$11

The toddler/little boy section is bursting with the cutest linen shirts, stylish cardigans, hip shorts and pants (rolled-up, BTW).

Summer Linen Set
White Hooded Linen Blend Shirt $19-$21
Linen Blend Shorts $9-$11

Navy Chinos $16 - $18
Boat Shoe (Navy) $19-$21

The style quotient in the big boys section is amplified with the interesting details, like  color blocking,  contrasting buttons and collars. Military inspired style and sailor chic still rule supreme.

T-Shirt $9-$17
Twisted Chinos $26-$34
Navy Boat Plimsolls $19-$24

Gingham Check Chino Shorts $24-$33
Navy Boat Plimsolls $19-$24

Vintage Skinny Jeans $22-$31

One of my favorite Next departments to get lost in, is well… the boys’ footwear section.  The coolest and hippest styles galore with the surprisingly low wallet impact guarantee an incessant drooling and reflexive grabbing of the said wallet.
The simple elegance of canvas boat shoes, laid-back chic of colorful sneakers, edgy hipness of zippered hi-tops, classy lines of dress-up shoes, rock-n-roll vibe of the ragged, military boots.

The Next boys’ accessories selection deserves the dedicated post of its own so we will talk about boys’ socks, hats, scarves, underwear, PJ’s and sun suits later on when it’s time to sing  the Accessories Song.
Cons: At this price point maintaining the cool style and high quality could be somewhat challenging. Wool sweaters might be a little prickly and the cardigans a little too thin. Hey! You get what you pay for and the clothes are generously cut. So you can definitely get more than one season out of them and they are still a great deal.
